Riverside junior high students named Regional Quiz Bowl champs

The team, under the leadership of Brenda Hutcheson, hosted the 2A Regional Quiz Bowl competition on Saturday, Feb. 4, at Riverside Junior High in Lake City. The five schools participating were Buffalo Island Central, Marked Tree, Marmaduke, Riverside, and Walnut Ridge.

Three preliminary games were played during the morning with the elimination rounds in the afternoon. Riverside played six games winning five of the six taking first place.

Walnut Ridge came in second; Buffalo Island Central, third; and Marmaduke, fourth.

Riverside's Sam Meurer was named MVP of the competition.

First, second and third place teams advanced to the state finals which will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, at Batesville.
