Lady Lions knock off BIC at the MAC
Manila went on the road and stunned Buffalo Island Central 65-56 in non-conference action Thursday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex.
Devon Burrow pumped in 13 points while Kirsten Adcock and Kailen Shelton added 11 and 10 points respectively as the Lady Lions improved to 15-9 on the year.
Manila held a 33-27 lead at the half and took a 46-40 advantage into the fourth quarter.
Brittany Fowler led BIC (28-6) with 18 points and seven assists. Kaylee Greathouse added 14 more points for the Lady Mustangs.
Manila traveled to Caraway Monday night and came away with a 50-34 win over Riverside. Emily Cook scored 16 points while Devon Burrow added 15 more to pace the Lady Lions.
Kenzley Wilson scored a game high 20 points for Riverside.
The Lady Bearcats handed Riverside a 66-41 defeat Thursday night at Brookland. Kaitlin Schmidt led the Lady 'Cats with 12 points while Samantha Flowers and Chamy Keough added 11 points apiece. Jordan Maynard pitched in 10 points while Maddie Belk snared 15 rebounds.
Brookland led 11-7 after the opening quarter and 33-24 at the half. The Lady Bearcats increased their lead to 46-31 after three quarters of play.
Kenzley Wlison led Riverside with 21 points while Bekah Frayer added 17 more.
All three area teams will enter senior high district tournament play next week. Riverside will open tournament play Tuesday night at 6:30 against Walnut Ridge. BIC will open play as the number one seed Thursday night at 7:00 against the winner of Tuesday's first round game between Marked Tree and Cross County. The district tournament will be played at Cross County High School in Cherry Valley.
Manila will play the winner of Monday night's game at 4:30 Thursday at Corning.
