Buffalo Island Central's Lady Mustangs closed out the 2A-3 conference season with a convincing 67-36 victory over Rector Thursday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette.
The Lady Cougars held a slim 13-12 edge after the opening quarter before BIC rallied to take a 32-25 lead at the half. The Lady Mustangs exploded in the third period, outscoring Rector 25-7 to take a commanding 57-31 advantage into the fourth quarter.
Brittany Fowler led the Lady Mustangs with 15 points. Brittany Stockton scored nine while Emily Owens, Kaylee Greathouse and Katelyn Sparkman tallied eight points apiece. Cassidy Qualls contributed six, seniors Callie Brooks and Hayley Parker finished with five and four points respectively while Rachel Goldammer and Taylor McKuin added two points apiece.
The win improves BIC's overall record to 28-5 and 15-1 in league play.
Kendall Gunn led Rector with 15 points.
In junior high action, BIC wrapped up a share of the 2A-3 conference title with a 46-29 win over Rector. BIC (22-3, 14-1 2A-3) was led by Hannah Poe, Candice Hodge and Kelsey Strickland who all scored nine points apiece. Megan Webster scored seven, Bailey Owens tallied six, Blaire Wildy netted four while Caslyn Walls added two points.
Brittany Fare led Rector with 11 points.
The senior Lady Mustangs will close out the regular season at home Thursday night against rival Manila. The junior Lady Mustangs will begin District Tournament play this week at Riverside.
