Josh McCormick drained four three pointers to help Buffalo Island Central knock off Cross County 52-33 Tuesday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette. McCormick led the Mustangs with 16 points while Wes Colbert pitched in nine more.
BIC led 13-7 after the opening quarter and increased its lead to 28-17 at the half. The Mustangs took a 20 point lead, 39-19, into the final period.
Austin Pike's 16 point performance propelled BIC's junior boys to a convincing 56-23 win over the Thunderbirds. Hunter Costner also hit double digits with 10 points.
The Mustangs traveled to the state's number one rated 2A team, East Poinsett County, Friday night, and suffered a 76-30 loss at the hands of the top ranked Warriors.
Martin Powell led EPC with 16 points while Jory Ford added 14. The Warriors also got double figure scoring from Jammar Sturdivant and Wendell Pritchett who scored 12 and 11 points respectively.
The loss drops the Mustangs to 15-11 overall and 6-7 in 2A-3 conference play.
EPC also claimed the junior boys contest 48-36 behind T.J. Young's 13 points. Austin Pike led BIC (17-7, 9-3 2A-3) with a game high 21 points.
BIC will return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Marmaduke. The Mustangs close out the week hosting Marked Tree Friday night at Monette.
