The Cast to be at Caraway First Baptist
The Cast from Williams Baptist College will be at Caraway First Baptist Church at 10:50 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 22.
Brother Rick Stevens, pastor, invites everyone to join them. "More than a Feeling" is the theme as The Cast presents its 2012 program. The Cast, which is the creative ministry team of Williams Baptist College, is focusing this year on the importance of showing love in actions, and not just in words.
"We have a series of sketches that present the difference between real love for others and something that falls short of that kind of love," says Melinda Williams, who heads WBC's theatre program.
Williams and Brett Cooper, vice president for college relations at the college, are co-directors of The Cast.
"We love to make people laugh with our skits, but above all we want to reach them with our message. Whether we are doing something funny or a sketch that's more serious, we want the audience to be moved," Williams said.
The Cast for 2011-12 is composed of eight students who auditioned for the group at the start of the school year. Most of the fall semester is spent preparing the program, and the team travels to performances during the spring semester.
"The Cast this year is a very talented group with a number of seniors. The whole group works very hard at this ministry, and I believe anyone who sees them will be blessed," Williams said.
This year, The Cast is scheduled for nearly 20 performances around the state of Arkansas. Williams says she encourages everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to see The Cast when the group performs in their area.
WBC is a four-year, liberal arts college at Walnut Ridge.
