Riverside gains revenge on arch-rival Mustangs
Riverside jumped to a 26 point lead after three quarters, 51-25, and went on to crush arch-rival Buffalo Island Central 60-38 in 2A-3 conference action Tuesday night at Lake City. The victory by the Rebels avenged an earlier season loss to the Mustangs in Monette.
Alteeno Sain led Riverside (9-14, 2-8 2A-3) with 16 points while Logan Meurer added 15. The Rebels held a 17-10 lead after the first quarter and extended the margin to 33-19 at the half.
Wes Colbert Nic Bollinger led BIC with nine points apiece.
In the junior high contest, Riverside improved to 21-4 overall and 8-2 in league play with a 57-35 victory over the Mustangs. The win avenged one of the two conference losses suffered by the Rebels on the year.
Kollin Stone led Riverside with 21 points while Brandon Sain and Devon Austin added 13 points apiece. Victor Cerda scored seven while Levi Reed added three.
Austin Pike led BIC with seven, Alan Carmichael pitched in six, Johnathan Mondragon netted five, Erik Navarro tallied four, Trevor Couch and Tyler Myers scored three points each while Dylan Hurst, Dustin Myers and Ryan Austin added two point apiece. Stan Fowler added one point to round out the Mustang scoring attack.
The Rebels will return to the hard court Tuesday night when they travel to Rector. The Rebels will close the week with another road trip Friday night to Maynard.
