Buffalo Island Central jumped to a 24 point halftime lead and then outscored Riverside 14-0 in the third period to take a commanding 53-15 advantage into the final quarter en route to a 55-26 victory Monday night at Lake City.
The Lady Mustangs placed 11 players in the scoring column, led by Brittany Fowler and Katelyn Sparkman, who scored 10 points apiece. Callie Brooks netted seven, Hayley Parker tallied six, Brittany Stockton scored five, Kaylee Greathouse and Taylor McKuin contributed four points apiece while Jodiee Clay pitched in three points. Emily Owens, Rachel Goldammer and Shania Junyor added two points each. The victory improves BIC to 22-5 overall and 8-1 in the conference.
Kenzley Wilson led Riverside with a game high 13 points. Rebekah Frayer scored six, Catlyn Sailor and Susan Sailor added five and two points respectively.
BIC took the junior girls contest 44-26. The Lady Mustangs (17-2, 9-0 2A-3) were led by Candice Hodge's 11 points. Madison Greathouse scored seven, Megan Webster tallied six, Kelsey Strickland pitched in five while Karo Thomas and Blaire Wildy added four points apiece. Bailey Owens scored three while Hannah Poe and Ashley Field netted two points each.
Natalie Milligan and Abbie Love led Riverside with seven points apiece while Chelsea Nichols and Gattlin Hale added six points each.
Riverside rebounded Thursday night with a 48-33 non-conference victory over Black Rock. Riverside held a slim 30-24 lead heading into the final frame, but outscored the Lady Zebras 18-9 to claim the 15 point victory.
Rebekah Frayer led Riverside with 19 points while Kenzley Wilson pitched in 18 more. The Lady Rebels led 14-8 after the opening quarter before Black Rock rallied to tie the game at 20-20 heading into halftime.
In the junior high game, Riverside rolled to a 48-15 win. Chelsea Nichols led the Lady Rebels with 16 points while Natalie Milligan added 11.
Riverside will return to action Monday night when they travel to Rector. The Lady Rebels will close the week with a road trip to Maynard.
BIC plays host to Cross County Monday night before traveling to Lepanto to take on conference rival East Poinsett County Thursday night.
