Employees, board members, and area mayors attend ribbon cutting ceremony.

Craighead County Solid Waste Authority (CCSWA) employees, board members and area mayors gathered Thursday, Jan. 5, for a ribbon cutting at the grand opening of the new facility located near Lake City. Construction of the CCSWA represents a $500,000 investment. The new building is a little larger than the previous building and the new transfer station will provide for a more efficient operation.

The new facility will service the Eastern District of Craighead County and is open to all of Craighead County.

CCSWA will accept solid waste but will not accept any hazardous material. Old tires are accepted at the new facility. Craighead County residents can dispose of four passenger tires a month at no charge.
