Buffalo Island Central split a pair of conference games last week, defeating Maynard 48-46 Friday night on the road after dropping a 58-32 decision Tuesday night at Rector.

Dilynn Strickland scored the game winning lay-up with eight seconds left to give the Mustangs a two point win at Maynard Friday night. Strickland led BIC with 14 points while Wes Colbert added 10.

BIC trailed 26-15 at the half and 37-29 after three quarters.

Austin Glisson scored a game high 23 points to lead the Tigers.

In the junior high contest, BIC rolled to a 59-36 victory. Austin Pike scored 20 points while Alan Carmichael chipped in 13 to lead the Mustangs.

In Tuesday night's loss at Rector, the Cougars outscored BIC 31-15 in the second half to pull away to a 26 point victory.

Mitchell Weber led Rector with 20 points while Brandon Stevens added 10.

Alex Field led BIC with 11 points.

In the junior boys game, Austin Pike poured in 29 points as BIC roared past Rector 55-36.

The Mustangs will return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Riverside before hosting Walnut Ridge Friday night in BIC's senior high homecoming game.

Lady Mustangs

The Lady Mustangs picked up three victories last week, while Brittany Fowler passed the 2000 point mark of her career in Friday night's 61-40 non-conference win over Westside Friday night at Monette. Fowler poured in a game high 28 points and finished the night with 2021 career points.

Cassidy Qualls added 11 points for BIC, who improved to 21-5 on the year. Heidi Taylor led Westside with nine points.

BIC won the junior girls game 48-27.

BIC began the week with a 57-38 conference win at Rector. Brittany Fowler led the Lady Mustangs with 14 points while Hayley Parker added 12 and Cassidy Qualls pitched in 10.

The Lady Mustangs also won the junior high contest with a 38-22 victory over Rector.

BIC ran past Maynard 76-50 Thursday night behind Brittany Fowler's 29 point performance. The win improved BIC's conference mark to 9-1 on the year.

Cassidy Qualls also hit double digits with 11 points while Hayley Parker added 10 more.

Micaela West recorded a triple double to lead Maynard. West finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals. Sarah West added 14 more for the Lady Tigers.

In the junior girls game, BIC improved to 15-2 overall and 9-0 in league play with a 59-42 victory over Maynard.

BIC will return to action Monday night when they travel to Riverside at Lake City before playing host to Walnut Ridge Thursday night at Monette.
