Caraway Council works through short agenda
Caraway City Council met Thursday, Dec. 8, and worked through a short agenda consisting of announcements and reports.
Mayor Barry Riley reported Basler Electric has been unable to get an accurate measurement of water samples, due to the current water table level.
"The measurement on the Basler property is not attainable at this time," Riley said. "They will sample again in January."
The proposed General Fund budget for 2012 was discussed by the council.
A city election for a one-cent sales tax will be held Tuesday, Dec. 13, with a town meeting to discuss the issue at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, at the city Police Department.
The issue of having portable basketball goals moved back off the streets where they are found was discussed with action to be taken by the Police Department.
A discussion was held concerning taking bids in the spring of 2012 for city trash collection.
Water Superintendent Terry Couch reported the city water tower would be inspected in May of 2012 after work is completed in 2011.
The Caraway Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10.
Christmas in the Park will be sponsored by Caraway First Baptist Church and has been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 17, with changes necessary due to bad weather.
