Riverside, Manila girls each post conference splits

Riverside split a pair of 2A-3 conference games last week, defeating Maynard 58-43 Monday night at Caraway before losing a heartbreaking 73-64 defeat in overtime Thursday night at Marked Tree.

Kenzley Wilson pumped in 26 points in Riverside's victory over Maynard while Rebekah Frayer added 19 more. Caitlin Rowe led the Lady Tigers with 13 points.

In the junior high contest, Riverside claimed a 38-35 victory as Gattlin Hale scored 16 points while grabbing nine boards. Natalie Milligan chipped in 10 more for the Lady Rebels.

Poohnu Perry recorded a triple-double, scoring 17 points while snaring 10 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists to lead the Lady Indians past Riverside Thursday night at Marked Tree. Jay Perry led Marked Tree with 26 points. Marked Tree (6-2. 4-1 2A-3) also got a double-double from Lexi Perry who had 13 points and 10 rebounds while Caflora Hillis added 10 more.

Riverside's Wilson led all scorers, pouring in 33 points, including 27 in the second half. Wilson also grabbed eight rebounds on the night as the Lady Rebels dropped to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in league play. Anna Brickell recorded a double-double for Riverside, scoring 10 points while pulling down 10 boards. Frayer chipped in nine points.

Riverside's junior girls team defeated Marked Tree 28-13. Hale scored 14 points for the Lady Rebels.

The Lady Rebels return to action Monday night when they travel to Walnut Ridge before closing out the week Thursday night against Cross County at Caraway.

Manila also split a pair of conference games, losing 48-44 Monday night at Corning before coming back to take a 59-47 victory over Hoxie Thursday night at Manila.

The Lady Lions took a 12 point lead into the fourth quarter, but saw Corning roar back to outscore Manila 24-8 in the final frame to pull out the come-from-behind four point victory. Whitney Woodard led Corning with 18 points while Shelby Wallace and Kirsten Adcock paced Manila with 16 and 12 points respectively.

Corning won the junior girls game 43-23.

Manila jumped all over Hoxie in the first period of play to take a 24-5 lead and held on to post the 12 point victory in Thursday night's 3A-3 conference game. The win boosted Manila's overall mark to 4-4 and conference record to 3-1. Wallace led Manila with 17 while Kailen Shelton and Taylor Teague chipped in 15 and 14 points respectively.

Manila took the junior high contest 54-18.

The Lady Lions will return to the hardcourt Monday night hosting Earle before traveling to Wilson Thursday night to take on Rivercrest.
