The third time is a charm and it was the perfect night for a Christmas parade in Leachville on Thursday, Dec. 1.
The parade had been postponed twice due to inclement weather.
The streets were lined with people of all ages to enjoy the 2011 Christmas parade.
Paula Bowen, parade chairman, was pleased with the turnout and the participation in the parade.
Winners:
Floats -- Bertha Ray, first place; Leachville Girl Scouts, second place; Burdette Fire Department, third place.
Antique Cars -- Lottie Hale, first place; W.T. Bibb, second place; Danny Staggs, third place.
Hot Rods -- Joey Barnes, first place; Jimmy Castanon, second place; Henry Hetler, third place.
Horses -- Terry Shirley, first place.
Walkers -- New Providence Baptist Church, first place.
Most Unusual Ride -- Keith Evans and the Lurch Mobile-Rode by Scott Bowen.
Following the parade, cookies and soft drinks were served in the Melody Theater.
Leachville's Santa waved to the children in the parade and met with them on stage at the Melody where each child had the opportunity to pose for a picture with Santa and talk to him.
Mayor Shelia Spurlock expressed her appreciation to every one who took a part in the parade and made it such a success.
