Manila went three and out on its first possession, and on fourth down the Mustangs blocked Shane Lee's punt, giving the Ponies excellent field position at the Lion 41 yard line. Irvin scored from one yard out five plays later, and Hart's point after upped the Mustang lead to 14-0 with 7:00 left in the opening period.
The Lions answered when quarterback Zach Reinhart hooked up with Tucker Miller on a 58-yard pass play, giving Manila a first and goal at the Hoxie six. Miller scampered around left end on the next play, and Lee's two point conversion run cut the Mustang advantage to 14-8 with 5:46 remaining in the first quarter.
The Mustangs scored again when Mashburn rambled nine yards into the end zone at the 2:03 mark. Irvin's two point conversion run pushed the Hoxie lead to 28-8. Mashburn's touchdown was set up by a pair of 20 yard runs from Cody Treadaway.
Tyler Hall picked off a pass by Reinhart on the Lion's next possession, giving the Mustangs the ball at the Lion 37. Devin Roberts scored from 15 yards out after a 27 yard pass from Irvin to Mashburn, giving Hoxie a 34-8 lead. Hart's point after attempt failed.
Hoxie scored again when Mashburn blocked another Manila punt and raced 23 yards untouched into the end zone at the 9:49 mark of the second period. Hart's point after was true, and the Mustangs led 47-8. Neither team would score the rest of the way.
The victory improved the Mustangs to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in league play, while Manila fell to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in conference action.
Roberts led Hoxie with 78 yards on seven carries while Mashburn had 72 yards on only two carries. Irvin rushed four times for 31 yards. Hoxie finished with 347 yards of total offense while Manila had 141 yards.
Manila will finish their road schedule Friday night when they travel to Piggott to face the Mohawks for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
