Manila golf team wins District

Manila High School golf team finished first in the 3A-3 District tournament for the second consecutive year. The Lions traveled to Sugar Creek Country Club in Piggott on Sept. 20 and claimed the championship title with a 293 team score.

The Lions were led by senior Blake Carr shooting a 77 in 18 holes earning him Medalist title. Other Manila scores include sophomore Scott Eubanks finishing with 105; junior Landon Woody 111; and sophomore Wells Pack 117.

Host team Piggott was runner-up with a 307 followed by Tuckerman by only one at 308.

Other teams and scores were Corning 362; Harrisburg 357; Hoxie 380. Rivercrest's Evan Delancey scored 130 in the individual play.

Manila's Carr has had a great senior year earning medalist title 11 out 18 matches during the season.

The Manila Lions will compete at state traveling to Arkadelphia to play the DeGray course on Monday, Oct. 3.

The Manila team is coached by Mike Bridges.
