Doris Mae Corter, 80, of Monette, widow of Arlis Ray Corter, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at the Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City. Born at Sulphur Rock, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Walter Otis and Ruby Godair Cannon and had been a longtime Monette area resident. She was a retired certified nurses aide having worked for Monette Manor Nursing Center for 27 years and was a member of Rowe's Chapel Baptist Church near Caraway.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Corter; a brother, Bud Cannon; and a sister, Helen Corter.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Aycock and Patricia Cagle, both of Lake City; six grandchildren, Melanie "Lynn" Tucker, Michael Corter, Robert Corter, Vanessa Hafer, Kim Cagle and Miranda Denton. She also leaves 14 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Bradley, Kaley, Meagan, Casey, Mark, Kerra, Dylan, Jacob, Ethan, Olivia, Abigail, Jaycee, Shelby, and two great-great-grandchildren, Braley and Korbyn.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with the Rev. Michael Tabor officiating. Burial followed in the Monette Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers were Allen Slayton, Matthew Hafer, Bradley Tucker, James Tucker, Dale Corter, and Anthony Tucker.

The family receivee visitors Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
