Mayor Jon Milligan called the Lake City council meeting to order on Aug. 25. Councilmen Harold Barker, Tommy Eakins, Ann Davis, Jeffery Wisham, Danny Dunigan and Brenda Hutcheson were present. Also present for the meeting was City Clerk Linda Simpson.

Following the approval of the minutes and the financial report, Lake City Council approved the second reading of Ordinance No. 253-11, An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 135 providing for the keeping of certain animals and the prohibition of keeping pit bull dogs; providing for an appeal process and providing for a penalty for any violation, by title only at the Aug. 25 meeting.

The council approved unanimously to grant Randy Blancett a five foot variance on the south side of property he owns at 508 Grove Street for the purpose of building a duplex.

The council then approved the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission to change the property, owned by Blancett, located on Court Street from C to R-3. All necessary policy and procedures were followed according to the Planning and Zoning Ordinance No. 197-03.

City Clerk Simpson read Resolution No. 0825-11; a resolution entitled: Repair and Re-coat interior and exterior of One 100,000 gallon elevated water tank a grant request to the ARDC in the amount of $47,925. The council approved the adoption of the resolution.

Mayor Milligan asked the council to approve the sale of old equipment at an auction on Sept. 6 by Hendrix Auction. The council voted unanimously to approve the sale of the old equipment.

The council accepted the resignation of Terry Chisnall as code enforcer/building inspector effective Aug. 31.

The council voted 6-0 to appoint Cameron Tate as code enforcer/building enforcer beginning Sept. 1, contingent upon Mr. Tate getting his license.

Mayor Milligan asked the council to approve the appointment of Hunter Timms as a volunteer fireman to the Lake City Volunteer Fire Department. The council voted 5-0 in favor of the appointment. Alderman Hutcheson abstained, as Timms, is her grandson.

The next council meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25.
