Mississippi County Farm Bureau will host its annual meeting Monday, Aug. 29, starting at 6 p.m. at Arkansas Northeastern College, Burdette.
Benton Felts of Joiner, president, said the annual event will feature food, entertainment, door prizes, a speaker and business. Bobby Skeen, National Cotton Board, will be the featured speaker. Skeen is a "story teller" similar to the late Jerry Clower.
Buddy GoDair, keyboardist, will again be present. His specialist is country songs of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. GoDair is a 30 year plus veteran in the entertainment business and is a feature approximately three evenings a week at a popular restaurant in Hayti, Mo.
Also, this year the county legislative delegation will be recognized for their support of agricultural issues in state government. These are state Representative Tommy Baker, Osceola; Charolette Wagner, Manila, and Senator David Burnett, Osceola.
Heath Adkisson, vice president and chairman of the resolutions committee, said the organization will take a position on numerous resolutions developed by eight committees. Those with state and national implications will be forwarded to the Arkansas Farm Bureau.
Felts will present his annual report, 2012 officers will be elected and the Mark Fincher family of Dyess will be recognized as the 2011 Farm Family of the Year.
Farm Bureau members with a significant interest in the federation are encouraged to attend.
