Mr. Lonnie Hopkins Wright, 87, of Manila, passed from this life Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at his home. Born at Manila, he was the son of the late R.T. and Clara Belle Crews Wright and was a lifelong Manila resident. He was retired from Brown Shoe Company and was a member of the Manila First Baptist Church. Mr. Wright was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Edgar, Floyd, James and Junior Wright, and sisters, Bessie, Mary and Georgie.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Mary Johnson Wright of the home; one son, Lonnie Ray Wright and his wife Kathleen of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Mrs. Treasa Costner and her husband Craig of Rector; one sister, Mrs. Kay Harrison of Cardwell, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kesha Smith and husband, Matt, Kaci Bell and husband, Becton, Chelsea Wright and Camille Wright; four great-grandchildren, Ty Wagner, Costner Smith, Hadleigh Bell and Mary Whitley Bell.
Funeral service was 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Manila First Baptist Church with Rev. Ferrel Duffel and Rev. Jeff Dial officiating. Burial with military honors wasin Manila Cemetery.
The family received visitors Friday evening from 6-8 at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila.
