Leachville Boy Scout Troop 42 had four scouts and two adult leaders attend summer camp on June at the Gus Blass Scout Reservation in Damascus, Ark.

Scout Evan Long: Shooting Safety, Shotgun shooting, Lifesaving*, Fishing, Fly Fishing.
Scout Hunter Smith: Leatherwork, Wood Carving, First Aid*, Canoeing, Fish and Wildlife Management, Archery.
Scout Shannon Sparkman: Mountain Biking*, Emergency Preparedness*, Archery, Environmental Science.
Scout Alan Woessner: Shooting Safety, Shotgun shooting, Emergency Preparedness*, Archery, Astronomy.
*Required merit badges to attain Eagle Scout rank.
Other activities during the week were swimming in an Olympic size pool, fishing, stargazing, campfires, burgers-on-the-lawn, outdoor games and the Chuck Norris Chopstick competition (Scouts were required to eat several meals with chopsticks). One evening, the troop prepared dinner at camp making beef stew and a Dutch oven cake.
Training classes were also provided for the adult leaders including CPR certification, outdoor leader skills, safety afloat and safe climbing.
