Lonnie Gene Jones, 69, of Black Oak, died Saturday, July 2, 2011, at his home of natural causes.

Born in Cardwell, Mo., Lonnie lived in Jonesboro before moving to Black Oak 39 years ago. He was retired from Colson Caster of Monette and was a member of the Black Oak Church of Christ.

Lonnie was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Lee Jones, a grandson, Christopher Hardy, and his parents, Jesse and Beckie Elliott Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Gracie Maie (Grace) Jones of the home; a son and his wife, Brad and Shelia Jones of Hatton, Alabama; three daughters and their husbands, Glenda and Randy DeWitt and Kristie and Perry Evans, all of Wynne, and Clydean and Tim Hardy of Southaven, Miss.; three brothers and their wives, J.T. and LaVada Jones of O'Fallon, Mo., Jerry and Clara Jones of Paragould, and Dewayne and Roberta Jones of Cordova, Tenn.; a sister and her husband, Jessie and Mitchell Godfrey of Branson, Mo.; 16 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, at 2 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Eddie Dunigan officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Eddie Dunnigan, Dickie Pace, Danny Dunnigan, Mike Cook, Jessie Dewitt and Dwayne Whitley. Honorary pallbearers include Jerry (Chub) Qualls.

Visitation was held Friday from 12 noon until service time in Emerson Chapel.
