Opal Irene Barham Wallace

Opal Irene Barham Wallace, 95, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at her home.

She was born Nov. 9, 1915, in Black Oak to the late Timothy and Bessie Barham. Mrs. Wallace retired from Brown's Shoe Company in Leachville, but she loved being a farmer's wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and yard work. She was a member of the Monette First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Janis Craig and husband Gene of Camden; a grandson, Ronnie Bruce and wife Karen of Monette; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Bruce of Monette, Hannah Bateman and husband Brad of Little Rock and Kim Rogers of Jonesboro.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wallace; four sisters, Lois Hall, Della Moore, Mary Mecurio and Margaret Barham; three brothers, James T. "Hunky" Barham, Burl Barham and Bill Barham.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Monette First Baptist Church with Revs. Captain Lovell and Rusty Bird officiating. Burial will be at Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Monette First Baptist Church.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Robert Chambers, Bob Hurst, Caleb Bruce, Brad Bateman, Tom Craig and Ted Finley and as honorary pallbearers, Joyce Danner, Louise Emerson and Vonnie Flipo.

Lasting memorials may be sent to the Monette First Baptist Church or the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
