MANILA - Mallard Lake is now open to fishermen. Repairs on the entrance roads to the lake have been completed and the roads are now passable.
Recent flooding caused severe erosion to the roads and forced Arkansas Game and Fish Commission personnel to close access to the 300-acre public fishing lake.
Gravel was added to the eroded areas to stabilize the area to withstand vehicle traffic.
Although the roads are considered passable, travelers to the lake should exercise caution while driving on the entrance roads. The roads are still in need of additional gravel and grading.
Additional improvements to the roads are expected to take place this summer.
Approximately $12,000 was spent to restore the roads to useable condition.
