EPC knocks off Riverside 13-3 in 2A-3 District Tournament

East Poinsett County rolled over Riverside 13-3 in the first round of the 2A-3 District Tournament at Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge Thursday afternoon, ending the Rebel's season.

The two teams had split during the regular season, but it was all Warriors on this day, led by Brady Jones who went 3-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Austin Price also had three hits with an RBI while Hunter Hinton and Caleb Harston had two hits and two RBIs apiece. Freshman McKenzie Betts (6-3) picked up the win, allowing seven hits and three runs over 5 1/3 innings of work. Betts struck out nine while issuing only walk.

Riverside, who finishes the year with a 7-14 mark, got a two-run homer from losing pitcher Logan Meurer. Garrett George went 2-3 and drove in Riverside's other run on the day.
