Katherine Berniece Baker, 84, of Manila, passed from this life Friday, April 29, 2011, at the Manila Nursing Center. She was the daughter of the late William P. and Mary Jane McDole Holsclaw, widow of longtime Deputy Sheriff Lee Baker, and a lifelong Manila resident. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethany Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marsha Miller, and a step-son, L.B. Baker.
Survivors include, four sons, Tommy Baker of Little Rock, Barry Baker of Manila, Joe Baker of Pauls Valley, Okla., and Kerry Baker of Manila; a step-daughter, Mavene Beaird of Trumann. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, several great-grand-children, and a great-great-grandson.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial followed in Manila Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bobby Tucker, Loy Jackson, Danny Robbins, James Bourland, Jim Mills, and Wayne Shedd. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Wayne Hicks and Jimmy Hicks.
The family received visitors Sunday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
