Hemingway-Pfeiffer writer's retreat
The first, three-day Hemingway-Pfeiffer Creative Writers' Retreat scheduled in the spring was held April 7-9, 2011, at the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum & Educational Center in Piggott, AR. A collection of stories and poems by the 15 writers who attended the retreat entitled "The Sound of Muses" will be published on-site for participants.
Roland Mann of Oxford, MS, served as instructor/mentor for the retreat. Mann is a former editor with Marvel Comics, journalist, newspaper editor, talented author and creative writing instructor. Diana Sanders, assistant director, served as coordinator.
Writers in attendance were: Anne Winchester, St. Francis; Barbara Cart, Donna Austin, Lesa Inman, Mary Lee Cunningham and Sean Helfen of Jonesboro; Dot Hatfield, Beebe; Elizabeth Foster, Hot Springs; Lydia Cheatham and Pat Laster, Benton; Linda Wyss and Ethan Baker, Piggott; Patricia Oplinger, Cherokee Village; Phyllis Rhodes, Everton, MO and Jeris Hamm, Ramer, TN.
The next HP Creative Writers' Retreat is scheduled June 20-24, 2011, with Dr. Rob Lamm, ASU-Jonesboro, serving as instructor/mentor.
