Riverside takes the plunge in honor of their own senior Cannon Ellis who participates in the Special Olympics. This year Cannon will be competing in the softball and tennis ball throw and hopes to bring home two gold medals.
The Riverside team was made up of 32 members using Pirates as their theme.
This year's event was held at the Elks Club in Jonesboro on Feb. 26. They all agreed the water was cold but it was for a good cause.
Matt Ziegler, Riverside student council sponsor, organized the team and commended everyone who took part.
"The kids work at it," Ziegler said. "They love Cannon and enjoy taking part in the event."
The team raised $1,000 for the Special Olympics
