Dorothy Irene Cobb, 87, of Lake City, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City. She was born July 28, 1923, to the late Albert L. and Allie Mae Berry Johnson. Irene was a member of the Monette Church of Christ. She had lived in the Black Oak and Lake City areas all her life. She retired from a long career at Ragsdale Grocery and then at Junior Foods, both in Lake City.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Craig and her husband, Bill of Lake City; a son Dennis Cobb of Lake City; three grandchildren, Rusty (Jennifer) Craig of Monette, Leigh (Nathan) Coleman and Drake Cobb all of Lake City; three great-grandchildren, Wicker Craig, Olivia Manning, and Connor Manning, all of Monette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. Cobb; a son, Boyd Cobb; a granddaughter, Tiffany Cobb; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Cobb; a sister, Velma Hargrove and a brother, Alfred "Buddy" Johnson.
A celebration of her life was held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 14, at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Tim Bassing officiating. Burial followed at Monette Memorial Cemetery.
The family received visitors Sunday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers were George Wright, Rusty Thompson, Dennis Gathright, John Milligan, Jack Gathright, and John Varner.
