Buffalo Island Central School Board voted unanimously to renew all certified and classified contracts that indicated a desire to return for the 2011-12 school year.
The meeting, held March 14, was called to order by President Nathan Sanders and all members were present.
Following the approval of the minutes and review of financial statements, the board voted 7-0 to accept the resignation of Karen Wallace, elementary teacher, and acknowledged the return of Terri Cobb from a one year medical leave of absence.
Brooke Dunigan was hired as junior/senior cheer sponsor for the 2011-12 school year.
It was decided 6-0 to hire Melinda Wells as West Elementary/High School librarian.
John Field was appointed as board representative to the District Technology Committee.
Student transfers were approved unanimously with Ariel Fry from Riverside to Buffalo Island Central (she has been attending BIC and recently moved); and Sean Rory Qualls from Riverside (kindergarten) -- Freedom of Choice transfer.
The board approved payments for extra duties and responsibilities during the state tournament held at BIC. Kellie Russell received $2,000 and the FFA $2,000 for handling parking.
In other business:
*Gym usage by other than varsity teams was discussed. The board will consider suggestions from the coaches and administration at the April meeting.
*The make up calendar, as selected by school employees, was approved.
*The board complimented everyone for making the state tournament at BIC a success and expressed their pride in the performance of all personnel involved.
