Manila Board hires football coach
Manila School Board members met in a special called meeting Thursday evening to discuss hiring a football coach.
Toby Doke, who started with the football program in Manila, recently submitted his resignation.
Following an executive session, the board voted unanimously to hire Jerry Castor starting with the 2011-12 school year as head football coach.
Coach Castor was assistant coach at Arkansas State University for several years before taking a position at Osceola as assistant football coach where he has served for 17 years.
"Our program is still young and I think Coach Castor's experience will bring us to a new level," Board President Tracey Reinhart said. "He has a fine record and resume and we are looking forward to having him in Manila. He played and coached football at Arkansas State University and has been in the public school system for 17 years. I think he is looking forward to joining our program."
