Veach, a native of the Lost Cane community, has worked with the Workforce Service, employment security division for 34 years, eight months, and 25 days. Veach smiled as he looked at his watch and added 6-1/2 hours.

He was presented with a plaque in appreciation of his years of service.

He grew up on the family farm working with his dad and brother. He jokingly said he decided to go find him a real job.

Dennis and Margaret Veach welcomed guests to his retirement party on Friday.

He said he has enjoyed working at the Workforce Services and has always tried to help people and be a good mentor to the staff.

Veach has worked at the same location throughout his career. The office building has been at the same location since 1954 but was renovated and doubled in size in 1990.

Dennis and his wife Margaret welcomed guests throughout the afternoon.

His brother, Randy, said Dennis would have plenty to keep him busy helping on the family farm.
