Mayor Clifford Veach honored
Manila Clifford Veach was honored on Tuesday with a luncheon hosted by city employees. Mayor Veach, city employees, city council members, members of the police department, and others gathered to thank him for his 20 years of service as mayor.
Susie Baker presented him with a plaque.
"This is a bitter sweet occasion," Baker said. "We all wish you well and we will miss you."
Mayor-elect Wayne Wagner summed it up with three words, "Job well done," as he offered his gratitude to Mayor Veach for his years of service.
Mayor Veach did not seek re-election.
"It has been a pleasure to work with all of you," Mayor Veach said.
Also present for the luncheon was Mayor Veach's daughter and son-in-law, Dennis and Candy Seyler.
Entertainment was provided by Mickey Jo Littlejohn as he played and sang several songs. He said it was all in fun in honor of Mayor Veach.
"We are going to miss you," Littlejohn said at the end of his performance.
