Cole Winford scored a season high 32 points to lead Riverside to an 88-65 victory over Walnut Ridge Tuesday night at Lake City. The Rebels ended the week, dropping a 71-63 decision to Cross County Friday night at Cherry Valley.
Jake Love and Alteeno Sain added 19 points apiece while Logan Meurer chipped in 11 points in Riverside's win over the Bobcats. Josh Anderson pulled down 20 rebounds while Love dished out nine assists to aid the Rebel cause.
Chris Dickson scored 26 points to lead Walnut Ridge. Tyler Dickson netted 13, Richie Ward added 11 while Range Weeks and Clay Hufstedler pitched in 10 points apiece as the Bobcats placed five players in double figures in a losing effort.
Alteeno Sain scored 14 points while Jake Love and Josh Anderson pitched in 10 apiece in Riverside's eight point loss to Cross County.
Jake Veasley scored 23 points while Darian Hare added 21 for the Thunderbirds, who improved to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in 2A-3 conference action.
Riverside's Junior Rebels improved to 14-5 overall and 5-1 in conference play with a pair of victories. The Rebels downed Walnut Ridge 56-23 and followed with a 53-16 victory over Cross County.
Riverside will return to action Wednesday, Dec. 22, with a 6 p.m. tipoff against Weiner in first round action of the NEA Tournament in Jonesboro.
The Lady Rebels got back on the winning track with a pair of 2A-3 conference victories. Riverside defeated Walnut Ridge 41-39 Monday night at Lake City before whipping Cross County 78-36 Thursday night at Cherry Valley.
Meagan Goza hit two free throws with six seconds left to lift Riverside past Walnut Ridge. Goza finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lady Rebels. Riverside held a 16-15 edge after the first quarter and took a 31-25 lead into the dressing room at the half. The Lady Rebels led 35-32 heading into the fourth quarter.
Ashley Baker scored a game high 20 points to lead Walnut Ridge.
Riverside placed four players in double figures in its 42 point victory over Cross County. Riverside (5-11, 3-4 2A-3) led 21-9 after one quarter and 40-22 at the half. The Lady Rebels took a 62-32 lead into the final frame.
Riverside's Alyssia Thibodeaux led all scorers with 24 points. Meagan Goza added a double-double, scoring 13 points while snaring 14 boards. Becca Frayer netted 19 points, six assists and five steals while Kyley Campbell added 14 points.
The Junior Lady Rebels improved to 18-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play, defeating Walnut Ridge 54-45 in overtime before downing Cross County 48-26.
Kenzley Wilson scored a game high 28 points in Riverside's victory over Walnut Ridge. Wilson also led the Lady Rebels with 15 points and five steals in Riverside's victory at Cross County.
The Lady Rebels will open NEA Tournament play Wednesday, Dec. 22, at 3 p.m. against Augusta.
