Reception held for Mayor Billy Anderson
Lake City Mayor Billy Anderson was recognized Sunday afternoon with a reception at city hall.
Family and friends gathered to wish him well in his retirement. Mayor Anderson has served as mayor of Lake City for four years. He did not seek re-election and will be leaving office at the end of the year.
"I have enjoyed serving as mayor," Mayor Anderson said.
His wife, Lilly, is also retired and they are planning to spend more time with family. Also present at the reception were his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Terry Mays, of Jonesboro and their grandson, Travis Mays, a college student in Conway.
Fellow mayors, Lake City Council members, city employees and others dropped in throughout the afternoon.
Councilman Harold Barker presented Mayor Anderson with a plaque in appreciation of his service to the city.
"I appreciate all of my council members and city employees," Mayor Anderson said. "I couldn't have done it without them."
