Manila found the going tough on the road last week, dropping a pair of 3A-3 conference matchups at Corning and Hoxie.
Corning placed three players in double figures, including two who recorded double-doubles in its 63-50 win over the Lady Lions Monday night. Rachel George scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Sierra Scheffler added 16 points and 11 boards to lead the Lady Bobcats. Whitney Woodard added 16 points and six assists for Corning, who improved to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in league play.
Emily Cook poured in 17 points while Shelby Wallace added 12 to pace the Lady Lions. Courtney Craine and Kirsten Adcock tallied six points apiece while Jordan Robertson and Kristen Wise chipped in three each. Taylor Craig netted two while Taylor Teague contributed one point to round out the Manila scoring attack. The Lady Lions hit 14-20 foul shots and hit six treys, three by Cook.
Corning held a 17-12 first period advantage before increasing their lead to 31-19 at the half. The Lady Bobcats built their margin to 46-28 before heading into the final quarter.
Manila jumped to a 12-7 lead after the first quarter but watched Hoxie rally for a 64-51 win Thursday night at Hoxie. The Lady Mustangs placed three players in double digits, led by Cayley Rosson's 18 points. Krista Coffell added 16 points while Autumn Nelson pitched in 12. Hoxie connected on 16-25 foul shots and drained nine treys on the evening.
Hoxie erased its five point first quarter deficit to take a 27-24 edge into the dressing room at the half. The Lady Mustangs stretched their lead to 44-39 heading into the fourth period.
Cortney Craine led Manila with 18 points while Shelby Wallace pitched in 16 more. Emily Cook tallied eight, Taylor Teague netted five while Peyton Joyner and Jordan Robertson added two points apiece. Manila hurt their own cause at the foul line, hitting just seven of 27 free throw attempts.
In junior high action, Manila split a pair of games, losing to Corning 45-27 Monday night before coming back to defeat Hoxie 36-30 Thursday night.
Katie Scheffler scored 14 points while Felicia Walley added 12 more to lead the Lady Bobcats.
Deven Burrow paced Manila with 11 points. Kailen Shelton scored seven, Charlie Smith tallied six, Bailey Towell pitched in two while Heather Hollis added one point to round out the Lady Lion scoring attack. Manila hit four of 10 foul shots and drilled five three pointers.
Kailen Shelton scored 13 points while Deven Burrow added 11 to lead the Lady Lions past Hoxie. Haley Hicks scored seven while Charlie Smith added five points.
Manila held a slim 6-5 edge after the first quarter before Hoxie rallied for an 18-16 halftime advantage. Manila outscored Manila 15-5 in the third period to take a 31-23 lead heading into the final frame.
Brandi Alls led Hoxie with 13 points.
Manila will host Rivercrest Monday night before traveling to Piggott Thursday night for a pair of 3A-3 conference matchups this week.
