Buffalo Island Central won the White County Invitational Holiday Tournament 54-45 Saturday night over Pangburn to cap off an undefeated week in senior girls basketball action.
Sophmore Brittany Fowler recorded a double-double in the championship game at Judsonia, scoring 23 points while grabbing 11 rebounds. Jenna Pike also hit double digits with 13 points and five steals as the Lady Mustangs improved to a perfect 15-0 on the season.
BIC advanced to the finals of the tournament, cruising to an easy 71-42 win over Midland Thursday night, led by Fowler's 22 point, 11 rebound performance. Fowler also scored the 1000th point of her career in leading the Lady Mustangs to the victory.
Cassidy Qualls scored nine points while Hayley Parker added eight points and six rebounds to aid the Lady Mustang attack.
BIC downed Des Arc 54-32 in the tournament's quarterfinals Wednesday night. Jenna Pike and Emily Owens paced the Lady Mustangs with 12 points apiece while Fowler added 10 points and eight assists.
BIC began the week with a 58-31 2A-3 conference victory over Cross County Monday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette. All 12 players scored for the Lady Mustangs, led by Shania Junyor's 12 points. Hayley Parker scored 11 while Brittany Fowler finished with 10. Rachel Goldammer netted six points and eight rebounds.
BIC took the junior girls contest with a 44-14 shellacking over the Lady Thunderbirds.
The Lady Mustangs will return to action Monday night when they travel to East Poinsett County to take on the Lady Warriors in a 2A-3 conference tilt. BIC will finish the week Thursday night when they journey to Marmaduke to face the Lady Greyhounds in another league battle.
