Buffalo Island Central fell short in its bid to capture the White County Invitational Basketball Tournament, dropping a 66-35 decision in the finals to Concord Saturday night at Judsonia.
James Tate scored 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds to pace the Mustangs, who saw their record fall to 6-10 on the season.
The Mustangs advanced to the finals with a 62-50 victory Thursday night over Pangburn. Daniel Davis recorded a double-double, scoring 19 points while grabbing 10 boards to lead BIC. James Tate scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Wes Colbert drained three treys in scoring 10 more.
BIC raced past Bradford for a 58-42 victory in Wednesday's quarterfinal game. Daniel Davis led the Mustangs with 21 points while Ben Cole added 10. James Tate recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.
BIC began the week falling to Cross County, 74-71, Tuesday night at Monette in 2A-3 conference action. Jake Veasley led the Thunderbirds with 27 points. Cross County trailed 38-32 at the half before rallying to within 55-54 entering the final frame. The Thunderbirds outscored BIC 20-16 in the last quarter to rally for the victory. Darien Hare added 22 points for Cross County, who improved to 3-0 overall in 2-0 in conference play.
Ben Cole led BIC with 21 points while Jeremy Smith added 18 more. Daniel Davis and James Tate pitched in 13 points apiece.
Jacob Sanders and Austin Pike scored 10 points each to lead the junior Mustangs to a 39-14 victory over the Thunderbirds.
BIC will return to action Tuesday night at Lepanto to face East Poinsett County in 2A-3 conference action. The Mustangs will close the week when they journey to Marmaduke Friday night to take on the Greyhounds in another conference battle.
