Shelby Wallace poured in 27 points while Emily Cook pumped in 20 more to keep the Lady Lions undefeated in 3A-3 conference action with a 66-59 victory over Earle Monday night at Manila.
Manila (4-3, 3-0 3A-3) rallied from a 33-32 halftime deficit to take a 49-45 lead into the final period. Cortney Craine also hit double figures for Manila, scoring 11 points.
Breanna Gillion scored 14 points while Lacordia Williams added 12 more to lead Earle.
Manila won the junior high game 35-20.
The Lady Lions dropped a heartbreaking 39-38 decision to Armorel in the first round of the Gerald Jennings Invitational Tournament Tuesday night at Caraway.
Armorel held a 14-13 lead after the first quarter before Manila rallied for a 23-22 lead at the half. The Lady Lions took a 31-30 edge into the final quarter before the Lady Tigers outscored Manila nine to seven in the final frame to pull out the victory.
In junior high action East Poinsett County squeezed out a 38-34 victory over the Lady Lions in the Gerald Jennings Invitational Tournament. Synteria Ward led the Lady Warriors with 17 points while Deven Burrow paced Manila with 12 points.
Manila will return to action Monday night when they travel to Corning for a 3A-3 conference battle. The Lady Lions close the week with another conference tilt Thursday night at Hoxie.
