Lake City Council voted unanimously Monday, Nov. 15, to accept applications from Jason Eidson and Jared Eidson to serve on the volunteer fire department.
Council members present included Harold Barker, Tommy Eakins, Ann Davis, Jeffery Wisham, Jon Milligan and Brenda Hutcheson.
Following the financial report and approval of minutes, Council voted 6-0 in favor of allowing Jerry Bowman to dedicate the water and sewer and street of Lynn to the City of Lake City.
In old business Mayor Billy Anderson presented Ordinance 248-10, the basketball/street ordinance. Mayor Anderson presented copies of the state law and city ordinances on sidewalks and streets. After some discussion, a motion was made by Alderman Barker and seconded by Alderman Eakins to accept Ordinance No. 248-10. An Ordinance prohibiting the blocking or encumbrance of any portion of any street, alley, or sidewalk, prohibiting basketball goals overhanging the street, alleyway or sidewalk; providing for the manner of motion was defeated by a no vote from all members present (0-6).
The council voted unanimously to allow the city's millage rate to remain at 1.6 mills for the year 2011, the same rate as 2010.
It was announced Lake City Christmas parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 18. Line-up will be at 5:30 p.m. at the Wayne Short ball park.
Council members received packets from the Legislative Audit to review the 2009 audit for the City. The council accepted the findings of the report.
Mayor Anderson informed the council of repairs done on a fork lift in the amount of $8,923.31; and the fire department has received the air tanks that have been on back order for several months.
The next regular scheduled meeting has been changed to 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27.
