Lady Rebels win Bay Junior High Invitational title

Riverside's Kenzley Wilson poured in a game high 29 points to lead the 12-1 Lady Rebels to a 36-29 victory over MacArthur to claim the Bay Invitational Junior High Girls Basketball Tournament Championship Saturday afternoon at Bay.

Riverside trailed 17-16 at the half before rallying to take a 26-25 lead into the final quarter. The Lady Rebels outscored the Lady Cyclones 10-4 in the final frame to secure the title. Chayla Johnson scored 13 points to lead MacArthur, who dropped to 4-2 on the season.

The Lady Rebels advanced to the championship with victories over Bay and Buffalo Island Central earlier in the week. Riverside defeated the host Lady Yellowjackets 31-21 Tuesday night led by Wilson's 12 points. Anna Brickell scored seven while Natalie Milligan had four. Chelsea Nichols, Ashlyn Snyder, Gattlin Hale and Jordan Miller all added two points apiece.

Riverside advanced to the finals with a thrilling 41-40 victory over archrival BIC in Friday night's semifinal game. Wilson paced the Lady Rebels with 26 points while the Lady Mustangs were led by Candice Hodge who scored 12 points.

Riverside completed its undefeated week with a pair of regular season victories, defeating Marmaduke 42-34 Monday night on the road before beating BIC 31-20 Thursday night at Caraway.

Wilson scored 14 points while Brickell recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead Riverside past Marmaduke. Nichols scored nine, Miller had four while Milligan and Snyder added two points apiece.

Wilson scored a game high 14 points in Riverside's Thursday night victory over BIC. Brickell netted eight while Sydney Emery added three points. Milligan, Nichols and Hale all contributed two points apiece for the Lady Rebels.

Hannah Poe led BIC with seven points while Taylor McKuin and Kelsey Strickland tallied four points apiece. Madison Greathouse and Candice Hodge netted two points apiece while Bailey Owens chipped in one point.
