Riverside's Jake Love pumped in a game high 30 points to spark the Rebels to a stunning 73-71 victory over last year's 1A State Runner-up Bay Yellowjackets Tuesday night at Lake City.

Riverside traveled to Black Rock Friday night but fell to the Zebras 58-47. Love led the Rebels with 16 points while Josh Anderson chipped in eight. Black Rock held a 22-20 lead at the half and stretched their margin to 36-32 entering the final frame.

Joe Paul Carey led the Zebras with a game high 23 points while Tadd Fore also hit double digits with 13.

The loss drops the Rebels to 2-1 on the young season.

In junior high action, Riverside outscored Black Rock 41-35.

Maynard raced past Riverside to post a 61-50 victory in the semifinals of the Marmaduke Junior High Invitational Tournament Thursday night. Kollin Stone led Riverside with 16 points while Ben Hensley scored 15.

In other senior high boys action, Buffalo Island Central improved to 3-2 on the year with a 64-41 victory at Armorel Friday night. Ben Cole led the Mustangs with 17 points while Daniel Davis chipped in 13 more. Armorel's Zach Skelton led all scorers with 21 points.

The junior Mustangs made it all the way to the finals of the Marmaduke Invitational Tournament but fell in the championship game 37-32 to Maynard. Austin Pike and Nick Bollinger scored 15 and 13 points respectively to lead the Mustangs.

BIC reached the finals when Eric Navarro drilled a three pointer in the waning seconds of the game to lead the Mustangs to a heart-stopping 36-35 victory over Rector. Drake Brown led BIC with nine points while Navarro pitched in eight.

In senior girls action, Bay downed Riverside 47-37 Monday night at Bay. Tressa Jenkins scored a game high 20 points to lead the Lady Yellowjackets. Jenkins nailed 10-11 from the free throw line.

Meagan Gosa led the Lady Rebels with 19 points. Kyley Campbell scored eight, Becca Frayer had five, Tara Campbell chipped in three while Alyssia Thibedeaux added two points to round out the Riverside scoring attack.

The Lady Rebels led 8-6 after the first quarter before Bay pulled even at 21-21 entering halftime. The Lady Yellowjackets outscored Riverside 11-4 in the third quarter to take a 32-25 lead going into the fourth quarter.

In junior high action, Riverside defeated Bay 31-22. Gattlin Hale led the Lady Rebels with nine points while Natalie Milligan scored eight. Anna Brickell netted seven, Kenzley Wilson tallied four, Chelsea Nichols contributed two while Ashlyn Snyder added one point for Riverside.

The Lady Rebels took a 6-0 lead after the first quarter and outscored Bay 13-5 in the second period to take a 19-5 halftime lead. The Lady Jackets battled back in the third quarter to pull within 21-16, but Riverside outscored Bay 10-6 in the final frame to clinch the victory.

Riverside defeated BIC 33-29 in the quarterfinals of the Marmaduke Junior High Invitational Tournament. Wilson led the Lady Rebels with 10 points while Brickell added eight. Nichols finished with six, Hale scored four, Milligan tallied three while Snyder chipped in two points for Riverside.

Kandice Hodge led BIC with eight points while Madison Greathouse tallied six. Hannah Poe and Megen Holden netted five points apiece, Taylor McKuin and Karo Thomas contributed two points each while Bailey Owens added one point.

BIC knocked off Armorel 43-24 Thursday night in junior girls action behind Thomas' nine point effort.

The Buffalo Island Central senior girls remained unbeaten with a 4-0 record after defeating Armorel 56-40 Thursday night at Armorel. Brittany Fowler pulled off a double-double, scoring 12 points while dishing out 10 assists. Jenna Pike also hit double digits with 12 points.

The Lady Mustangs held a slim 27-22 lead at the half, but used an 18-9 run in the third period to build their advantage to 45-32 entering the final frame.
