Thursday, October 28, 2010

Lake City Council met on Monday, Oct. 18, approving year-end bonuses and discussing two ordinances.

Aldermen present were Harold Barker, Tommy Eakins, Ann Davis, Jeffery Wisham, Jon Milligan and Brenda Hutcheson, along with City Clerk, Linda Simpson.

Mayor Billy Anderson asked the council to consider employee year-end bonuses for 2010. Alderman Eakins made a motion, seconded by alderman Milligan to give a $400 year-end bonus to all city employees. The motion was approved unanimously.

It is an ordinance prohibiting the blocking or encumbrance of any portion of any street, alley, or sidewalk prohibiting basketball goals overhanging the street, alleyway or sidewalk: providing for the manner or removal and disposal of same; fixing the penalty therefore and for other purposes.

A lengthy discussion was held by council members and those in attendance and it was decided to table the ordinance until he next meeting.

Mayor Anderson asked the council to consider changing the name of CR 801 Road, from Highway 18 south to Fourth Street, to Rebel Drive. In addition to the name change, he requested a 3-Way Stop be added to the intersection.

The motion was made by Alderman Eakins and seconded by Alderman Wisham. It was approved 5-1 with Alderman Barker casting the no vote.

Guests at the meeting were Toby Rand, Steve and Renee Chamness, Dennis Hiser, Michael Johnson, Mike and Gail Carner, and Danny Dunigan.

Mayor Anderson asked the council to review the 2011 proposed budget and return with any suggestions or changes at the next meeting.
