One killed, four injured in 2-vehicle crash

Troy Lee Case, 64, of Caraway was killed and four other people injured in a two-vehicle accident on Arkansas Highway 18 near County Road 831 between Lake City and Black Oak on Saturday, Oct. 16, at approximately 4:42 p.m.

According to the preliminary State Police report the 2005 Buick SUV, driven by Mr. Case, was westbound on Highway 18 when it crossed the centerline and struck a 2007 Ford SUV driven by Jacey Nicole Thompson, 18, of Luxora.

Mr. Case was pronounced dead at the scene by Craighead County Chief Deputy Coroner Milton Harbison.

Linda Gail Case, 55, of Caraway, a passenger in the Buick SUV, was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

Thompson was taken by Emerson Ambulance to St. Bernards Medical Center as was one of Thompson's passengers, 2-year-old Heidi McCune.

Another passenger in the Ford, 15-year old Johannah Thompson of Dyess, was airlifted to LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis.

A hospital spokesman said Mrs. Case was in stable condition as of Monday afternoon.

A representative from St. Bernards Medical Center reported Jacey Thompson in stable condition as of Monday afternoon and Heidi McCune had been released from the hospital.

An attempt to reach a representative from LeBonheur Hospital was unsuccessful on Monday afternoon.
