Buffalo Island Central School Board hired personnel, staffed after school tutorial program, approved transfers, and heard from building principals at the Sept. 13 meeting.
Each building principal presented reports concerning staffing assignments, student enrollments and other items of interest. Dr. Kima Stewart, principal of West Elementary, reported an attendance of 230; Nicole Stewart, principal of East Elementary, reported 259 attendance; Mark Hurst, junior high principal (grades7-9), has 197 enrolled; and Randy Rose, high school principal (grades 10-12), has 157.
Doris Willyerd, district test coordinator, presented both current and historical testing results concerning performance of students, trends, and portfolios.
Positions filled included Brandy Ivy, junior high resource; Cherry Carpenter and Linda Banegas, special needs assistant on an as needed basis.
Personnel to staff the elementary after school tutorial program included:
East campus -- Faith Rolland, Kathryn Austin, Lisa Turner, Murlene Walker, and Beverly Hall.
West Campus -- Regina Welch, Tina Fowler, Karen McClelland, Terrie Selby and Phillis Moxley.
Several transfers were approved including Briana Brock to Manila; Blake and Chasity Vankirk to Riverside; Kaitlyn Lomax from Valley View; Breanna Kayla and Ethan Griffin from Riverside; Samara Lasater from Manila; and Matt and Brendyn Holt from Manila.
In other business:
*The board approved the 2009-10 AFR and the 2010-11 school budget.
*Board members in-service requirements were discussed.
*The board renewed the district's contract with the ASBA Model Policy Service.
*Financial statements were reviewed.
*The District's minority teacher and recruitment plan was approved.
