Buffalo Island Central School Board met Aug. 9 in regular session filling several positions for the upcoming school year.
Board members approved unanimously to hire:
*Nikki Dewitt, impact lab, west elementary;
*April Finch, second grade west elementary;
*John Rowlett, junior high special education;
*Marty Williford, junior high health, assistant boys basketball coach;
*Diane Golden, west bus route and shuttle driver;
*Cindy DeLee, east bus route;
*JoAnn Brandon, east cafeteria;
*Ann Hattenhaur, west cafeteria;
*Douglas Carter, west maintenance;
*Rhonda Lunsford, east elementary custodian;
*Olivia Holcomb, east gymnasium.
The board voted to accept resignations from Flora Thomas, custodian east elementary, and Thomas Powell, health instructor and assistant boys basketball coach.
The board approved a one year leave of absence for medical reasons for Terri Cobb.
Marshall Hughes, vice president of First Security Beardsley Public Finance, addressed the board concerning the refunding bonds approved at the July meeting. Board member Nathan Sanders moved to adopt the resolution authorizing the insurance and delivery of the $2,845,000 Buffalo Island Central School District No. 40 of Craighead County, Arkansas, refunding bonds dated Aug. 1, 2010, and other documents pertaining thereto as prepared by the Friday, Eldredge, and Clark Law Firm.
In other business:
*The board approved the July minutes and reviewed the financial statements and warrant listings.
*The board moved to adopt the personnel policy changes as recommended by the ASBA Policy Service and to adopt the changes to the student handbooks as proposed by the administration.
*The board then moved to approve for use the student and personnel handbooks.
