Michael Lowell Gauf, 61, of Caraway, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Caraway he was the son of the late Leroy and Dortha Powell Gauf and was a 1967 graduate of Caraway High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, attended Arkansas State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in literature and was working on a masters degree. He had worked as a computer programmer and teacher and had lived in Little Rock about 20 years before returning to Caraway four years ago.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Brown.
He is survived by his sister, Terry Gauf of Caraway; two great-nieces, Abbeegayl and Amylia; two great-nephews, Nikolas and Keech; and several loving cousins and other family members.
A celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, in the New Hope Baptist Church Life Center in Caraway. Howard Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
