Bertha Jane Benham, 48, of Jonesboro, died Friday Aug. 6, 2010 at St. Bernards Medical Center after a brave battle with cancer. Ms. Benham was born in Greenville, Texas, Jan. 8, 1962 to the late Winford and Ruthie Vail. She was of the Church of Christ faith, enjoyed fishing, flowers, and taking long walks. Ms. Benham especially enjoyed family gatherings and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Nathan Vail and wife Bobbi of Como, Texas, Neil Vail of Jonesboro, and Matthew Malott of Hot Springs; a daughter, Melissa Jane Benham of Jonesboro; four brothers, Winford Andrew Vail of Forney, Texas, Ira B. Vail of Jonesboro, Lloyd Vail of Jonesboro, and Billy Ray Vail of Forney, Texas; two sisters, Ela Mae Taylor of Jonesboro and Della Ann Burnett of Sulfur Springs, Texas; nine grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Ms. Benham was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews, David Wayne Taylor and Mark Edward Taylor.
The family requests private services and disposition under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila.
