The Town Crier: Local News: Monette High School reunion in the works (05/11/10)

An all-class reunion of the former Monette High School is planned for Saturday, Aug. 28, at Buffalo Island Central West Elementary in Monette.

The MHS Reunion Planning Committee met Sunday, May 2, to make plans for the upcoming reunion. Registration for the event will begin at 10 a.m. at the elementary school. Food vendors will be available outside to provide a wide choice of luncheon meals. Visitation will be in the auditorium and surrounding classrooms throughout the day.

All MHS composite photos are on display in the hallway surrounding the auditorium.

The afternoon program will begin at 2:00 in the Mustang Athletic Complex on the south side of the school grounds. Tickets to the program are $10 each and can be purchased during registration or at the MAC gymnasium.

New 2010 MHS Reunion Committee officers are President Chub Qualls, Treasurer Juanita Kerr, Secretary Janet Rolland, Program Chairman Gale Yates, Food Services Donald Winsted, Webmaster Michael Nettles and Publicity/Historian Nan Snider. Individual Class Contact Representatives will take on the responsibility of getting in touch with MHS classmates. Several representatives were present and included Billie Layne, Louise Baker, Sandra Nall, Tommy Jo Masner, Sherry Ladd, Phil Ball, Joyce Read, Betty Pylant, Neala Hoch, Beth Thompson and officers.

Another MHS Yearbook will be published by Nan Snider for the event and will include names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of all known classmates and school staff members. Photos, memorabilia, and classmate updates can be mailed to Nan Snider, 20212 Hwy. 18 E., Monette, AR 72447, or emailed to

Scheduled planning meetings will be held at 2 p.m. June 13, July 11, and Aug. 8 at BIC West Elementary in Monette. For more information persons may contact any officer or representative.
