Sylvester Eugene "Gene" Brandon

Sylvester Eugene "Gene" Brandon, 84, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born June 23, 1925, in Leachville to William and Eva Brandon. He was a master electrician and a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Brandon; a daughter, Linda Alden (Dennis) of Tyler, Texas; a son, Danny Brandon (Brenda) of Paragould; two stepdaughters, Kathy Fewell and Dee Clark both of Cabot; seven grandchildren, Julie Aldredge (Philip), Tom Alden (Jennifer), John Alden (Jacquelynn), Kimberly Esposito (Jeff), Danielle Thomas (Evan), Missy Weaver, Terrance Brandon; a stepgranddaughter, Ashley Clark; three sisters, Wynetta Dean, Shirley Taylor and Joyce Best; three brothers, Floyd Brandon, Norman Brandon and Leon Brandon and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 62 years, Ruby Jewell Brandon; a son, Kenny Brandon; two sisters and three brothers.

A celebration of his life was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at the Brown's Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Royce Boling officiating.

Burial followed in Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.
