Lady Lions claim three victories

Kimberly Wise belted three home runs including a grand slam to power Manila to a convincing 14-0 victory over Brookland Thursday afternoon in 3A-3 conference softball action.

Wise also picked up the win on the mound, firing a one-hit shutout, as the Lady Lions improved to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play. The senior right-hander struck out nine Lady Bearcats in six innings of work.

Wise finished the day going 4-5 at the plate while driving in seven runs to lead the Lion offensive attack. Katie Donner also went 4-5 at the plate with an RBI while Leigha Woody picked up a pair of hits, including a home run and two RBIs.

Manila began the week with a 10-0 shutout of Brookland at Manila. Wise (9-2) pitched six innings, striking out nine while scattering three base hits.

Katie Donner led the Manila offense, going 4-4 at the plate. Donner drove in three runs and stole three bases on the day. Wise added three hits and a pair of RBIs while Leigha Woody picked up two hits and two more RBIs.

Jonna Dodd doubled and scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the sixth inning as the Lady Lions pulled out a 4-3 victory over Rivercrest Tuesday afternoon at Manila. Kimberly Wise pitched a complete game to pick up the victory on the mound, striking out three while allowing only one earned run on four hits.

Katie Donner and Kristen Painter both went 2-3 at the plate with one RBI apiece.
