Lady Mustangs cinch Conference championship

Buffalo Island Central clinched the 2A-3 conference softball title with an 11-0 victory over Rector Monday afternoon at Monette.

Karla Marroquin picked up the win as the Lady Mustangs improved to 10-2 overall while finishing with a perfect 10-0 conference mark. Marroquin struck out 10 Lady Cougars in five innings of work, allowing only one base hit.

Jenna Pike went a perfect 3-3 at the plate to lead the BIC offense while Marroquin drilled a two-run homer, her fifth of the season. Marroquin finished with two hits and three runs batted in. Brittany Stockton, Jodiee Clay and Brittany Fowler all had two hits apiece to round out the Lady Mustang attack.

BIC posted an 11-1 victory Tuesday afternoon over Bay in non-conference action at Monette.

Karla Marrroquin earned the victory on the mound while driving in three runs on the day. Marroquin finished 2-2 at the plate while striking out 10 Lady Yellowjackets.

Megan Misner went 3-3 on the day while Jenna Pike also added a pair of hits.

The Lady Mustangs will close the regular season Monday afternoon with a non-conference doubleheader against Bay before beginning district tournament play Thursday afternoon at Marked Tree.
